Using this site

Get Out & Wisconsin is a free guide to Wisconsin's state parks, forests, trails, recreation areas and wild rivers, for the general public's personal, non-commercial use. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

Not official

This is an independent project by Ryan Dahlberg. It isn't affiliated with or endorsed by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the Wisconsin Department of Tourism or any other agency. For official information, use dnr.wisconsin.gov.

Check before you go

We work to keep the information here accurate, but hours, fees, closures, trail conditions and weather change, sometimes faster than we can follow. Everything on this site is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. Confirm details with the DNR before you travel. Outdoor activities carry risk. You're responsible for your own safety and for following park rules and posted signs.

Ask Badge

The Ask Badge chat answers from this site's own pages, and like any automated answer it can be wrong or incomplete. Don't rely on it for safety decisions, and check closures and fire danger on the park's page or the DNR's site.

Your passport

Passport stamps are saved only in your own browser. We can't see or recover them, so use Export on My passport to keep a backup.

The writing, design, lists, mascot art and code on this site are © 2026 Ryan Dahlberg unless credited to someone else. You're welcome to link to any page. You may quote short passages with a link back to the page you quoted. The fair use guidelines of the U.S. copyright statutes apply to all material on this site. For any use beyond fair use, ask first.

Content from others

Some material here belongs to others and stays theirs, under their own terms:

  • Park descriptions and activity text come from each property's pages on dnr.wisconsin.gov and are credited on every park page.
  • Park photos are shown straight from the DNR's own pages. We don't copy or host them.
  • Maps use USGS The National Map, © OpenStreetMap contributors and AWS Terrain Tiles.
  • Weather and air quality come from OpenWeatherMap. Fire danger comes from the DNR's WisBURN feed.

If you own something on this site and think we've used it wrongly, contact Ryan (see below) and we'll fix it or take it down.
