Privacy
Short version: we don't collect anything about you. No accounts, no tracking, no ads.

What we collect
Nothing. Get Out & Wisconsin has no accounts, no sign-ups, no forms, no comments and no tracking cookies of our own. We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies or identify you. We don't run a server that stores information about visitors, we don't show ads, and we don't sell or share anything.
What stays on your device
A few conveniences are saved in your own browser's local storage, never sent anywhere:
- Your park passport stamps
- Your light or dark mode choice
- Your map style and whether property boundaries are shown
You can clear them any time by clearing this site's data in your browser. Use Export on My passport first if you want to keep your stamps.
Your location
The Near me button asks your browser for your location so we can sort places by distance. It's only used inside your browser for that sort and is never sent to us. We don't ask unless you press the button.
Services your browser talks to
To show this site, your browser loads things from other services. Like any website, they receive your IP address and basic browser details, under their own privacy policies. See About for what each one is for and why we use it:
- Hosting: GitHub Pages and Cloudflare
- Visit counts: Cloudflare Web Analytics (no cookies)
- Ask Badge (the chat): Cloudflare Workers AI answers your question from this site's own pages. We don't store your questions. Cloudflare uses your IP address briefly to rate-limit the chat, and Cloudflare Turnstile checks your browser in the background to keep bots out
- Fonts: Google Fonts
- Maps: USGS, OpenStreetMap, Amazon Web Services (terrain) and MapLibre (via cdnjs)
- Park data, photos, closures and fire danger: the Wisconsin DNR and its map service (Esri ArcGIS)
- Weather and air quality: OpenWeatherMap, via our own proxy (Cloudflare) — your request never reaches them directly
Links to Google Maps directions, the DNR, the pass store and the reservation site take you to those sites, where their privacy policies apply. See our Terms of use for the rest of the rules.
Kids
This site isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, child or adult.
Changes
If something else changes (say we add a newsletter), we'll update this page first and change the date above.
